POET'S CORNER

A haiku is a type of short-form poem that originated in Japan. Haiku poems are typically written in three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. They are unrhymed, but some poets may choose to rhyme the first and third lines for added challenge. Haiku poems often focus on nature or the seasons, and emphasize simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression.)

LAKE                                                                THOUGHTS

lake at six o'clock                                              I could see my breath

evaporating fog floats                                    sunrise had not warmed the land

denizens wake up!                                          alone with cold thoughts

PINE WOODS TRAIL                                    EAGLES

at the pine woods trail                                    majestic eagles

quotidian struggles leave                              sitting vigilant on oak

bird whistles call me                                       mice evade their gaze

HEART BEAT                                                EXPOSED

breezy air currents                                          silent atelier

difficulty holding still                                    mind patterns at work in space

heart beat looks for calm                              inner self exposed
