Body

BODY = the organized physical substance of a plant or animal; the material part of a human being

QUESTION: Do you know your physical body?

STORY: We all have a body. Think of the body as the skin of the mind - the body/mind is constantly communicating. We must pay attention to our body. For many years, I led a “BodyWisdom Drawing Exercise” for the Louise Hay Teacher Trainings. See and maybe practice my drawing exercise below.

QUOTES

“The mind and body are not separate units, but one integrated system.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer

“When you get into your car, shut the door and be there for just half a minute. Breathe, feel the energy inside your body, look around at the sky, the trees. The mind might tell you, 'I don't have time.' But that's the mind talking to you. Even the busiest person has time for 30 seconds of space.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

“The mind and body are like parallel universes. Anything that happens in the mental universe must leave tracks in the physical one.” ~ Deepak Chopra

EXERCISE

Get your pen and paper and play with this Body Wisdom Exercise

1) Sit quietly. Imagine a golden ball of healing light above your head. Imagine it descends down into your head - allowing you to look around. Notice any sensations. Allow this light to descend into your neck, shoulders, chest, stomach, intestines, legs - and then allow it to come back up to your arms and hands. Finally, allow this light to come back to your head and then, allow it to return to where it came from.

2) Draw a simple outline of your body and then color in areas where you felt sensations.

3) Choose one sensation or body part to dialogue with:

a) Write with your dominant hand: Sensation/Body part - tell me about yourself.

b) Let your non-dominant hand write a response.

c) Use your dominant hand to ask the the next question: What can I do to help you feel really good?

d) Let your non-dominant hand write a response.

Finally, ask any other questions that come to you and respond with your non-dominant hand.

Put your drawing on the wall in your bathroom and look at it for a few days.

Move forward, aware of your body as the skin of your mind.
