I Have A Friend...
I have a friend who has learning disabilities and I thought it would be too challenging for her to grasp the nature of abstract attributes. But then it dawned on me if I changed just a few things, and talked directly to her, she could probably grasp it. So I changed Consciousness to God, and then I begin to slip the word Consciousness in on occasion to get her use to it. Once we started with the word, “God”, she had no problem understanding attributes and she got it right away and that they are infinite.
And So I would like to read the letter I wrote to her.
It begins:
First, forget all your Bible training and all your life experience. Easy right? We’re going to learn something new. We’re going to learn to think like God.
First, we need to establish God’s characteristics that we, and most people, agree on. We’ve had conversations about this, so I know you know this. We’ve talked about it. First, can we agree that God probably thinks differently than us, right?
Would you consider that we do not know how to talk to God and because of our ignorance, we seldom get what we want out of life? Can you see that it's not that God doesn’t answer prayers; it's that we have no idea how to talk to him. All of our mumbling, griping, complaining, counting our list of just how imperfect the world is, laying up treasures blocks God’s influence from reaching us.
Do you think God is whimsical, that he answers prayers sometimes and sometimes not, or for some people (probably the deserving ones), but just not you? Again, in our ignorance, we ascribe all manner of human qualities to God. We are whimsical; God is not. Whenever you hear that catch-all phrase, God works in mysterious ways, you can be sure it is probably said by someone who does not know how to talk to god.
The problem is, we DO NOT KNOW HOW TO THINK LOGICALLY. Just garden-variety pure logic, the very logic they teach in math, the very logic they teach in colleges as logic. The very logic that applies to practical problems, to financial success. Translation is logical and natural. It is not supernatural. Talking to God is not magic; it’s logic.
Contrary to our deep conviction otherwise, we don’t even follow logic in our everyday thinking, even though we think we’re logical all the time. More than that, we don’t understand how to think logically. And all this illogical logic going on around the world is what breaks all the toys.
So, Translation uses pure logic to think like God/Consc.
The following paragraph is an example of the kind of pure logic we will be using:
Does it make sense that if perfect could be made imperfect, then it was never perfect to begin with? We are considering only the attribute of perfect in itself, not some “thing” that is perfect. Not a perfect flower or perfect painting, just “perfect”.
If something is perfect, nothing can be added to it. Perfect can’t be made more perfect. If it were possible to lessen perfection, then it was never perfect to begin with because perfect is indestructible. So, if something is once perfect, it is always perfect.
This is pure logic. Every thought has to follow the preceding thought in meaning. Pure logic is not attached to anything. In math, pure logic would be 2 + 2 = 4. It would not be 2 cows + 2 pigs.
This begins our process of real logic. Translation is the very heart of logic. And it is THE LOGIC for every phase of human endeavor because it starts with God’s attributes. That is what makes it special, sets it apart, and is universally THE LOGIC.
It does not start with “Today I had an accident. It starts with the perfect attributes of god and then we talk about “Today I had an accident.” We compare the accident to the perfect attributes of God to discover what we believe that is completely erroneous. Something we just assume is true starting in childhood. Remember, we are trying to think like God. So, an accident does not match the perfect attributes of God.
So, if God/Consc is perfect, does it make sense he could never conceive of anything less than perfect? It may not make sense to you right now, but if God could conceive of anything less than perfect, the universe would break apart. In fact, it would never exist to begin with.
See, you can’t build a universe with a negative. “No”, “not”, can’t, won’t, “minus” doesn’t go anywhere. Doesn’t build anything. In fact, creates an unfillable vacuum. A black hole waiting to swallow anything created, but of course, nothing would be created. Remember, this is only considering the abstract word “perfect”. Once it becomes a perfect something, like a perfect flower, it changes in every aspect and is no longer what we’re talking about.
God is not a perfect painting or woman or dog. God/Consciousness is just perfection. God/Consciousness is not a thing. God is a condition, a state of affairs, a provision of perfection. And that is all he can be.
So if Consciousness cannot conceive of anything less than perfect, how did the world get in such a mess?
Remember, we figured that God does not think like us. We think we’re looking at a mess. God thinks he’s looking at perfection. I wonder who’s right?
For just a little bit, we’re not going to think like we normally do. For that involves appearances. We normally think in terms of starting at zero and building up. Children are blank minds. We put them in school and build them into educated citizens. We break a leg and it heals by starting at 0 (healing) with blood and broken bone and interrupted flesh and it builds towards healing. But that is an appearance.
That is not what is going on. Healing actually involves uncovering the leg's health, which is contained within its design. The design was and is perfect. The design, the template, the pattern was never broken. The wholeness of the design or pattern pulls the leg towards its perfect form. Earthly circumstances determine how close it gets. So, the perfect design of everything on earth is God’s doing. What interrupts the fulfillment of those designs is our doing.
We do that by conceiving of all manner of things that do not have a basis in reality.
Every time we long for something, we are saying we don’t have that. But that is not true. We have a perfect design waiting to be fulfilled.
Every time we dread something, we are calling it into existence. Every time we worry about something, we are inviting it to happen. There is supposed to be a natural flow to our lives. What interrupts that is our doing.
Consciousness does what we tell it to do. It fulfills our beliefs, even the ones not based in reality, which is most of our beliefs. It is programmed to please us, to do our bidding. But we are seldom in touch with what we really want or what stands in our way, but God/Consciousness is not.
You may say, “I want to be happy.” Consciousness knows that is not true. The only way to be happy is to give up unhappiness—something most of us are unwilling to do, surprisingly. There is always some person we have to hang onto as our happiness. There is always some less-than-perfect thing we have to believe in. Unhappiness is the intruder. Happiness is natural and comes first. You can’t add it to yourself.
This means you cannot get happiness, real happiness, from the outside world. Not even from another person. You can only uncover it, because it exists in you already. Whatever is covering it up in us is of our making, some precious negativity we just can’t give up.
The problem lies in how little we respect our ability to think. We use it as though we are driving around in a horse and buggy, when in fact, it is a jet airplane. When we start thinking like God, we have bought a ticket on that plane. And through Translation, we will become the pilot.
If you break a leg, is that God’s doing? Is war God’s doing? Does God let war happen? It’s amazing how many people take leave of their senses when it comes to otherworldly issues. Logic be damned. What we don’t understand, we will just fill in with magic, and that other world starts feeling suspiciously abracadabra-like.
Does it make sense that if God can only conceive of perfection, then he is not responsible for the broken leg? Well, then, who is?
If God can only conceive of perfection, it is we who conceive of a broken leg, of a car wreck, of war, etc. We are responsible for all of it because humanity acts on illogical logic that opposes how God thinks. Everything about our lives is our responsibility, and no one is going to save us from that. We design everything that happens to us through our misunderstanding of how the world works.
Everyone seems to agree that God gave us life and free will as a gift. But God’s influence stops there. We can act independently of Consciousness. We can use this gift for anything we wish, including blowing up the world. Consciousness is not responsible for what we choose to create. God gave us the power to create and then turned us loose.
Maybe not such a good idea.
So where IS Consciousness in all of this, in a broken leg? God knows only, is only, the wholeness that heals the leg.
But the talk about healing is just a way to talk about it, because that is again an appearance. It is not what is going on.
The wholeness is already contained within the leg's original design. What we call healing is error (broken leg) disappearing, exposing the hidden wholeness contained within the leg. It grows towards wholeness because that is its pattern, but the template, the pattern itself is already whole. Our leg seeks to return to its pattern, its perfect design.
Consciousness knows nothing of our broken leg, our fight with our husband, war, birth defects, etc. People ask, “Why does God let war happen?” He does not start or let war happen, because he knows nothing about it. He only knows the wholeness that waits to return us to ourselves, whether that is a broken leg or a tortured mind.
God doesn’t do anything. He doesn’t save anyone. He doesn’t intervene for anyone. Because everything is already done. Everything is complete. We just uncover it.
When we poke holes in our ego, the wholeness streams through, the wholeness that was already there pressing on all sides of us, trying to return us to our perfect template. This shift in logic is necessary before we truly begin to think like Consciousness.
This shift in logic doesn’t seem like much. But it is absolutely the find of the century, the most important point ever made in the history of important points because the shift occurs when we start our thinking process with what amounts to God’s attributes. We start with all existence as truth, God or Consciousness. But our flawed logic goes something like this, if we’re being honest: “I have nothing. I’ve never had anything, so it’s just logical that I never will have anything. And since I have nothing, I am nothing because a person’s worth is measured in how much they have.” This is the belief buried in the heart of most people.
We spend enormous energy preparing for all manner of imagined things that can go wrong and 90% of what we imagine never happens except that we call it into being.
The design of the world and everything in it is a perfect template. Anything less than perfect rights its course if we think like God. God does not conceive of things that go wrong, that break, that end, that hurt, that kill. So we must struggle to bring our thinking in alignment with God’s. As our life improves, it is not improving. It is returning. Returning to its perfect design that already exists, complete.
In a sense, Consciousness is only aware of “yes”. Consciousness is completely unaware of “no”. And “no” would be anything less than perfect. So it is up to us to name and claim “yes” wherever we find “no”. This will become clear once we start actually translating.
And to realize that to any extent at all, troubles begin to disappear. Problems have unexpected resolutions. But it is not because we wave some wand over our problem and spout abracadabras. It is not because we get down on our knees and beg god to give us what we don’t have.
True humility is how Consciousness reaches us. He can’t get through opinions, judgments, beliefs and attitudes. Many people appear humble, but all manner of self-righteous opinions are passing through their minds batting away any real touch from God.
Consciousness thinks we have an answer to every one of our problems because it made designs for all existence that belong to all of us. We own every perfect design needed for our lives. But we keep telling consciousness we don’t have those things by wishing for them. The closer we get to our psychological perfection, the less we need from an external world, because the more we have inside.
No, you don’t have the house or the car or the healed leg. But you have the perfect designs God created for them. Claiming and clinging to your ownership is how you manifest them. That’s what Translation does. But it goes one step further. It traps our mind in logic. Its razor-edge logic cuts through and pares away all the crap, leaving only the dynamic essence of a finished kingdom.
It’s not the actual car that you own. It’s the template (pattern; like a sewing pattern) that determines the design that you, by right of simply being alive, own. There is no abracadabra, my damaged hand is perfect. It is the perfect design, the abstract wholeness that we cling to, not the damaged muscles in the hand because God has no knowledge of those damages. He is aware only of the perfect template.
It’s the same with the entreaty to love people. If you are trying to love the asshole, you are keeping the asshole intact. It is to love the whole, gracious, kind, generous, wondrous abstract nature of a person. Because the asshole is based on a reality that is not true, is not real, and that, God cannot even see. He only sees the “yes”, the true nature of a person.
So, think of the invisible perfection of the hand, not the damage. That’s what you keep in mind. That’s what we translate. If you keep the template in mind, it loses its abracadabra feel. You are then no longer looking at all the damages and trying squeeze them into perfection, abracadabra.
And the so-called “thing”, the broken leg, the damaged hand, has no choice but to reflect what the template is designed for. Because any and everything else is an appearance and cannot be trusted. Eyes cannot be trusted. Eyes bad—heart good. It is not the eyes that tell you what is going on in any situation. It is the translated heart.
The stress starts falling away. Contrary to all belief, stress and worry do not bring answers. They chase them away. A calm, unruffled interior invites answers.
“But how do we show what good people we are if we don’t worry? Good people worry about others.”
We are now deprogramming ourselves.
When prayers are answered, it is because we’ve managed to become vulnerable enough to let what already exists in. God does not act. He is already always there in total for our benefit. But it is always up to us and what we tell ourselves about Consciousness.
All of this may seem hard to understand as it is contrary to how we are taught to think. But struggling with it is necessary. We’ve got to start righting the ship and to stretch our minds to understand this is the beginning. Believe this because it makes sense. God is logical and its in the understanding of the logic that gives Translation its power. It is not abracadabra.
While our illogical logic clocks all the things that could go wrong with something, Translation declares through pure logic, why things have no choice but to go right.
There are two types of words. Attributes or general terms and relative terms, which are the things of our world. An elephant, a box of cereal, a wedding ring are all examples of relative terms. They are specific. General terms or attributes are words like perfect, infinite, freedom, etc. They are not specific. You can draw a picture of relative terms, but not attributes. And it is attributes that take our flawed logic and raise it to its highest meaning. They set us free from the damnation of the relative.
We believe God is perfect and then we go on to ascribe all manner of imperfect attributes to him like violence, pettiness, and jealousy. So, that ends now.
Either God is perfect or he isn’t.
The Bible is an allegory. It is not a historical accounting of people, places and things. It is not literal. Jesus never walked on water. He was showing us how to deal with disruptive emotions.
So, if Consciousness is perfect, what else is it that aligns with perfection? We write down what the expansion of perfection is in concept. If Consciousness is perfect, then it is complete. There are no missing parts, no half steps, nothing left undone. Since Consciousness is perfect, it is also flawless. Perfect cannot hold imperfections. Anything flawless is pure. Nothing can be added to perfect or sifted out, thus pure. So since Consciousness is perfect, it is complete, flawless, pure. So, our thinking starts out with the highest, pure logic we know and that would be in abstract terms.
We start on a high note and then compare it to what is happening in our lives. This is the opposite of how we normally think. Normally, we start out, not with a perfect high note, but with an imperfect low note. We are usually dreaming up all the things that will keep our lives at a level of scrambling for anything we can get.
1. I had a wreck
2. The nerves in my hand are damaged and may never heal.
3. My truck is totaled and I am without transportation.
These are all appearances. Again, we are not saying the totaled car or the mangled hand is not real. But it was in our thinking that they were brought about, and that thinking is not based on reality. Some misconceptions we had about life. Most of this is accepted mistruths in our childhood. Did you know, you are sometimes being guided by a child’s truth, a child’s belief that was made by a 2-year-old in a crib, with all her worldly experience?
The fact that there is any healing at all is the hand’s perfect design calling to it. It is not the hand’s imperfect design calling to it. Why? Because there is no such thing. There is no design for imperfection. It was never planned for. ONLY perfection exists.
That’s why we have to go blind. We wade through the jungle of our experience with pure logic only. We hang onto that. We argue with that. Because this is true even when the jungle does not display it. And we will always be blind when it comes to Translation because if we could see all the way to perfection, there would be no need to Translate.
When we start declaring for perfection, Consciousness sits up and starts to listen. Because you are now talking its language. Cons/God has been called into the game. And the appearance we are looking at has to slough off because we are declaring for reality, for perfection. Think about that, let it grab you. Everything you ever wished for since you were a child is true. We live in a magical universe built by logic. Everything should go our way.
Again, what exists in reality are the attributes of Consciousness. Relative words are (again) specific, as we said, such as cars, boats, paintings, etc. A car can’t be a painting, etc. Relative words are limited. But attributes can apply to infinite situations.
Now I want to talk about why Translation works. Every single thing in your awareness belongs to you and you alone. You dreamed up or accepted all of it. And just about every single belief is wrong, not based on reality. Everything you are aware of was learned from people who had no idea how life works. An accident happens, well there you go. Now you hope you have the money to pay for damages, so you find a mechanic who can fix it. We don’t even question this. That’s God’s reality. That’s God’s physics. But who says? Who damn says?
And since you believe that accidents happen, consciousness – your consciousness - arranges for accidents to happen. Consciousness always accommodates us, always does what we believe. So ACCIDENTS HAVE TO HAPPEN. They HAVE TO HAPPEN.
Your personal beliefs, not Sally’s beliefs, not my beliefs, your beliefs determine your reality. God did not determine accidents to happen, you did. I don’t care if the whole world believes accidents happen, they were asleep when they accepted that just as you were. All your beliefs, all your thinking are personal--personal beliefs, accepted by you. Almost none of them are attached to anything real.
Since every belief you have are yours and yours alone, owned by you, scripted by you, they can be changed by you. They were never based on reality. Never based on logic. And logic always leads to a good result, a fantastic result, a magical result.
We are only working with thought. Because it was thought that gave birth to accidents. The thoughts came first. So we deal in ideas only. It was your ideas, your beliefs, that gave birth to all the troubles in your life.
Drop that old idea that God is perfect but you are a sinner. “Crap happens to you because God is perfect, but you aren’t.” What good is God if he gets all the perfect stuff and we get all the crap? That idea is utterly cruel and totally illogical. A perfect God could not hate us that much.
No God determined that there should be accidents. We thought that up. And we can change it. To what? If your mind can think up a result, it would already be in your awareness. It HAS to be new to you. If it is not unexpected, it is not a translation result.
God is the only entity that can tell us how life works. And if Consciousness were to tell us that accidents happen, he couldn't be God. Because he would be telling us something that is not perfect.
We are made in his image. Our world must match his. If it does not then our world is based on reasons that are not true.
Lets talk about the accident. They said you were at fault. You’ve been proving to yourself, over and over, that you are not worth a carefree life. At some level, that may be a pervasive feeling of unworthiness. So, what better way to keep proving that, than to make mental errors in logic and in estimation (you estimated you had time to get through the light), but perhaps that was an appearance you were led to see in order to cause the wreck? Because you believe deeply not just in wrecks, themselves, but why you would need to have them.
You had a wreck 60 years ago when I first met you. Sometime later, you had another wreck. And some time later you had another wreck. This is just the latest in a long line of car accidents. You’ve told your consciousness, over and over, that you are less than other people (if even just a feeling), and so Consciousness follows logic even when we give it such meager first premises. We’re going to stop this. I’m going to sit with you, and we’re going to stop it. And from now on, when anything happens to your dissatisfaction, you will know enough about translation to do it on your own.
There is nothing on earth that happens without a reason. Everything means something down to the smallest occurrence, means something in consciuosness. Nothing happens by itself. We live in a living universe where everything originates, everything is a result, everything is a dependency, and every bit of it can be changed. Every origination, every result, every dependency is the visible universe being caused by the invisible universe, by thought, by consciousness and that universe is perfect.
If God/Consciousness can conceive only of perfection and he is all there is, where does that leave you? From where did you originate? Obviously, you originated from God/Consciousness. There is no other originator. And nothing can change that, no matter what you think of yourself. And we will work to dispel all those things you have been taught about yourself until we peel back the truth.
Some translations will take us a while. We have been believing them for a long time. Or maybe they won’t. It will all depend on how much sense the attributes make to us. But most of all, once you truly grasp that everything in your awareness was accepted by you as a pack of beliefs that have to play out as long as you believe them, then you can believe something else, no matter how solid it may appear. Not even so-called physics can hold us down.
I keep talking about the most important things in life. And now I come to one more.
Death. It is impossible for you to die. It’s not a gift. It’s not something you earn. For you to die, God would have to end all existence.
Consciousness, thought, is the fundamental reality of life, not matter or physical objects.
If consciousness is produced entirely by the brain, then brain death would end consciousness. But if consciousness is fundamental, as we have proved it to be, then nothing can be outside of consciousness, not even death. Something has to stay behind to conceive of death. Which means Consciousness has to survive death in order for death to even exist. Death is just one more experience within consciousness.
It can’t be that everything in our life is something we are aware of and then there is death outside of Consciousness. So, for you to die, God would have to end all consciousness because, as we keep proving in Translation, there is only one consciousness.
Start challenging the reality of everything in your world. Walk, not with an undisputed acceptance of that’s the way the world works, but with a question mark. As we talked about, in between translations, when you find yourself assuming and bemoaning the condition of your hand, stop, instead, think “Truth is all there is”. Change your thinking, change your assumptions. Each time you do this, you are lessening your belief in the world of accidents and establishing your acceptance of a truth that was always meant to give you the very highest quality of life possible, a magical, enchanted, spellbinding existence. And for you to realize this will make you among the smartest people on earth.
And she does get it. I once said to her, you realize that God, Consciousness, Truth can be used interchangeably? She said yes, but I like the word, “truth” most of all. I said, Well, that works for me.
